The year was highlighted by NWAC Championships in Men's Basketball and Men's Golf, along with NWAC Golfer of the Year honors and NWAC Tournament MVP recognition for Treshawn Weatherspoon. Off the field of play, SVC student-athletes continued to excel in the classroom by maintaining a department cumulative GPA of 3.10 or higher for consecutive academic quarters, while also giving back to the community through more than 100 hours of community service supporting local youth organizations and community events.
The department also experienced tremendous support from alumni, local businesses, families, and friends, raising more than $200,000 to enhance the student-athlete experience through scholarships, program improvements, and other athletic department initiatives.
"These accomplishments would not have been possible without the incredible dedication of our student-athletes, coaches, college leadership, faculty, staff, volunteers, alumni, families, and supporters," said Director of Athletics Mitch Freeman. "Thank you for helping create an environment where our students can succeed academically, compete at the highest level, and make a positive impact in our community."
Skagit Valley College Athletics also extends its sincere appreciation to its outstanding corporate partners and donors whose generosity continues to positively impact Cardinal student-athletes. Special thanks go to TRICO, BoatLaw, Baird Private Wealth Management, the McIntyre Foundation, Mountain Pacific Bank, Blade Chevrolet, Banner Bank, WaFd Bank, Gateway Automotive, Cook CPAs & Consultants, Hampton Inn, Esary Roofing & Siding, State Farm Insurance, Big Rock Pickleball, and the many individual donors who continue to invest in the future of SVC Athletics.
The annual sports program showcases the achievements of every Cardinal team while recognizing the individuals and organizations that make Skagit Valley College Athletics one of the premier community college athletic programs in the Northwest.
