David Dunham

David Dunham brings over 20 years of coaching experience at the high school, community college, and NCAA levels to Skagit Valley College Athletics. Currently, he serves as the Head Boys’ Basketball Coach at Squalicum High School in Bellingham, Washington, and is a PGA Associate in the Pacific Northwest Section (Member ID #30057743).
Dunham began his coaching career at Independence High School in San Jose, California, before returning to the Pacific Northwest, where he served as the top assistant at Whatcom Community College for a decade. From 2013 to 2016, he led the Whatcom program as head coach, earning two playoff appearances and a trip to the NWAC Championship Game. He was named NWAC North Region Coach of the Year in 2013–14.

His coaching journey continued at Western Washington University, where he spent seven seasons as the lead assistant. While at WWU, the program won two GNAC Championships and made multiple NCAA Division II tournament appearances. In recognition of his impact, Silver Waves Media named him one of the 50 Most Impactful Division II Assistant Coaches in the nation. Most recently, Dunham served as an assistant coach for the University of Idaho Men’s Basketball program during the 2023–24 season.
Originally from Pasadena, California, Dunham was a standout high school basketball player at Pasadena High School, where his team reached the CIF semifinals and held a No. 1 state ranking. He played collegiately at Golden West College (earning First Team All-Orange Coast League honors) and finished his playing career at Lewis-Clark State College, where he earned a B.A. in Kinesiology. He later completed an M.S. in Sports Administration from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

In addition to his coaching background, David works as the Sales and Operations Manager at Chuckanut Golf Carts in Bellingham. His passion for coaching, mentorship, and competition extends into the golf world, where he is helping grow the SVC Women’s Golf Program alongside Head Coach Daniele Graber.
David and his wife, Meghan (Valenti), have three children—Stefon, Hayden, and Quinn—and are proud grandparents to Oakland (Oaklyn) and Julian.
