Skagit Valley College went 2-2 during this weekend's Thunderbird Fall Classic tournament held at Highline Community College on September 1&2, 2017. The Lady Cardinals opened the tournament against Mt Hood Community College falling to the Saints in two (23-25; 19-25). The team rebounded against Yakima Valley narrowly escaping the Yaks in two sets (27-25; 25-23).
The Cardinals' volleyball team opened the second day against tournament host, Highline Community College, edging out the Thunderbirds with a 2-1 victory (25-21; 22-25; 15-13). Placing second in pool, the Lady Cardinals faced Northern Idaho in the Gold division semi-finals but fell short with a two set loss (19-25; 19-25).
Karly Richardson led the Cardinals' with 42 kills and 41 digs on the weekend and was named to the All-Tournament team.
Kamea Luna added 18 kills while
Kayla Thurman led had .294 hitting percentage (18 kills) and 53 assist.
