The Skagit Valley College Softball team continues to build momentum in 2025, improving their win total by six games compared to last season—with six games still remaining on the schedule.
Currently sitting in 6th place in the NWAC North Region standings, the Cardinals are pushing to finish the regular season strong and secure a spot in the Top 16 of the NWAC RPI (Rating Percentage Index), which determines postseason qualification.
The team is led by four impact sophomores:
These student-athletes have brought invaluable experience, leadership, and consistency throughout the season, guiding a group that continues to grow in both confidence and competitiveness.
Now in her third year as head coach, Brooke Writer has built a resilient and hard-working roster. Her emphasis on player development and team culture is laying the groundwork for lasting success.
With the final stretch of the season underway, the Cardinals will travel to Douglas College today for a doubleheader, before returning home for two critical matchups:
-
Friday, May 9 vs. Olympic College at 2 PM & 4 PM
-
Saturday, May 10 vs. Pierce College at 12 PM & 2 PM
Saturday's home games will also serve as Sophomore Day, as the program honors the contributions of Fisher, Pinski, Freeburg-Perez, and Saldivar.
Let's pack the stands and cheer on the Cardinals—Go Cards!
